Ruined Stronghold - Pillars of Eternity
Ruined Stronghold - Pillars of Eternity Walkthrough and Game Guide describes all the important locations in Pillars of Eternity game. Here, you will learn which NPC you should see in order to receive a quest and where to go to complete it. All major locations are accompanied with maps. The following elements are marked on the maps: characters we meet in the game world, hidden secrets, chests and other treasure containers, crafting ingredients, traps, secret passages, aggressive opponents, and bosses that are especially difficult to defeat.
Great Hall
Enter the Keep.
The keep seems abandoned. There are spirits here, as there were in Gilded Vale. Creatures, too. It seems I will have to explore further if I am to find answers.
NPC: Steward
As you come to the end of the great hall, you perceive an inviting warmth radiating from a grand throne wrought out of marble, its masterful artistry out of place amidst the castle's more practical stonework. The veiled face of a woman is carved above the throne's backing, watching over the room with hollow eyes.
At your approach, you feel the warmth fluctuate, as though stirring. A voice rings out from the carving, permeating the fortress through stone and air.
Find Maerwald.
Inside the keep, I found a spirit entombed within the throne that sits in the great hall. She has opened the way down into the depths of the keep, in the hopes that I might find Maerwald somewhere below.
NPC: Mother
As you draw nearer, the apparition in front of you resolves into an elven woman. Her stringy hair is tied back, and she tugs at a loose thread on her apron. There's a distant, hollow look in her eyes until she notices you.
A frail smile descends like a veil over her face. "Been out playing soldier again, have we? Go wash up and come help me shuck these peas."
NPC: Commander
A spectral man arrayed in armor and an officer's cloak studies a single sheet of paper. You can see straight through it to the ducal and Aedyre insignias on his breastplate.
He seems to read over the page several times before looking up at you. When he does, his expression is unreadable
Go down and search for Maerwald
Later in time ... After Maerwald Death.
NPC: Steward
Now you are owner of this Stronghold. You can manage it using "H" key.
QUEST: The Master Below
My new steward has informed me that, long ago, a powerful Engwithan constructed a labyrinthine dungeon underneath Caed Nua now known as the Endless Paths of Od Nua.
Od Nua was killed by the people of his time for his deeds, but the steward claims that a powerful force still dwells within the ruins. Whenever someone attempts to take possession of Caed Nua, this 'Master Below' stirs awake and sends forth a flood of monsters to reclaim it. If I do not deal with this sinister presence, I may eventually share the same fate as the Aedyrans who tried to claim this land long ago.
Explore the Endless Paths
If I intend to settle in this stronghold, it is likely I will have to contend with the Master Below. My steward has urged me to descend into the Endless Paths and seek out this enemy, so that Caed Nua will finally know peace.
Go to the temple of Woedica.
I learned from Maerwald that members of the Leaden Key tend to worship Woedica, and the steward has mentioned that there is a temple dedicated to Woedica in Defiance Bay.
