Anca Romance Walkthrough for The Blood of Dawnwalker

The romance between Coen and Anca in The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of three available romance options, alongside Lacra and Crak. These relationships do not lock each other out. They are completely independent, meaning you can successfully romance all three characters in a single playthrough.

Anca's romance arc is woven into a series of side quests where the relationship serves as a bonus element. While these missions are detached from the main storyline, they offer serious payouts. Along with seeing exclusive locations, snagging manuals, and picking up smaller loot drops, you get the powerful Font of Life. This item lets you regenerate health while in human form, and you cannot get it anywhere else. The Font of Life alone makes this entire questline worth doing.

You need to meet two main conditions to successfully romance Anca:

• Finish her entire questline through the finale of the "Stronger Than Achilles" quest.
• Pick the right dialogue choices during critical moments.

Main Anca romance lockout are:

• Biting or killing Anca, so watch out for that.
• Do not pick "friends only" or similar dialogue options. If you want the romance arc to happen, you need to make your intentions clear without coming off as too pushy.

She will not die on her own without your input. It is actually hard to ruin this relationship unless you flat out tell her you want to break things off. Still, you have to pick the right dialogue options to seal the deal.

Do not stress over every single chat with her since you will have plenty of them. Just aim to be nice, avoid criticizing her, offer help, and flirt as much as possible.

Even if things turn into a full romance, the relationship between Coen and Anca will not last forever due to her mortality and his long lifespan. Both of them seem fully aware of this fact.

Anca's romance arc spans a large chunk of the story, but it never feels like a drag. Weaving the relationship progression directly into actual quests helps a lot, making the whole thing genuinely fun to play through.

Below you will find the exact dialogue choices you need to make during critical moments to finish the romance arc successfully.

The Withering Away" quest in the Prologue is a mandatory part of the main storyline. When you meet Anca at her Hut during this mission, wait for the end of the conversation after you hit your main story objectives, then pick this option:

• [Gladly, I've missed it too. (2)]

This triggers the "Page-Turner" quest. While it is strictly optional for the main plot, it marks the actual start of her romance arc.

The Page-Turner" quest in Anca's Hut is entirely about setting up the romance arc. You cannot really mess anything up at this early stage, but you should still play along and pick the right dialogue options.

Right Dialogue Choices for the Romance Arc:

• Point out the "book with red cover".
• Insist on Catullus and choose [You sound like your prioress].
• [Thank you for not smacking me].
• [Kisse?]
• [Did they find love? Catullus and Lesbia?]
• [Grains of sand?]
• After the tree crashes into Anca's shed, pick up all the items in the main cabin. This does not count as stealing. Head into the adjacent shed and gather all the herbs. You must collect every single one. Look up to find them drying near the ceiling.
• Go back outside, help Anca to her feet, and return to the Hut together.
• [I got all of them].
• [You have people who care for you].
• [Can I take a look at your back now?]
• [You need to take off your shirt.]
• [wash the cut]
• [Stop calling yourself old.]
• [apply the balm]
• [I enjoy the company more than the books.]

Once you finish it, get back to the main story.

At the very end of the Prologue, when you finish the Smoke and Ashes" quest and open up Laslea Gate, you talk to Anca.

She gives you the "Echoes of Silenced Bells" quest, marking the start of Anca's Questline.

You cannot complete it right away. It stays on hold until you reach St. Tyna's Grove and meet up with Anca at the Crossroads Inn. Both the "Echoes of Silenced Bells" quest and her entire questline are strictly optional and detached from the main story. That said, this specific questline houses her romance arc. The final reward is the powerful Font of Life, which provides a massive buff to your character.

You meet Anca again at the Crossroads Inn in St. Tyna's Grove. The Crossroads Inn serves as the main hub for her entire questline. Talk to her to continue Echoes of Silenced Bells" quest.

You head to St. Tyna's Convent with Anca to wrap up "Echoes of Silenced Bells." Her goal is to recover forbidden books from the library. Just play through the standard quest objectives.

The choices you make during this mission will not permanently ruin Anca's romance arc, but you should still stick to these specific actions:

• Let Anca examine the documents. Pick [This won't end well.] and [There. Take them. (1)].
• Let Anca finish the ritual.

Completing this gives you the next quest in the chain, "Between the Words."

Exploring St. Tyna's Convent with Anca and finding forbidden books.

You get the short Between the Words" quest right after wrapping up "Echoes of Silenced Bells." A big moment for her romance arc happens when Anca asks you to brew some tea while you are working through the quest objectives.

Right Dialogue Choices for the Romance Arc:

• Exhaust all the side dialogue options, except for [give in to the hunger], obviously.
• Choose [Let's go through the books from Tyna's.]
• Choose [Hope you had more luck than me.]
• Prepare a warm drink and hand it to Anca.
• Choose [It's my pleasure.]
• Choose [There are better sources of joy than herbal brews.]
• Wrap up the rest of the quest objectives.
• Choose [Always? What do you mean?]
• Choose [Your feelings toward me - it's more than just faith.]

Finishing "Between the Words" leads straight into "Where Old Devils Lie," the next quest in the chain.

Examine the forbidden books with Anca to advance the romance.

After finishing "Between the Words," wait a full in-game day for Anca to complete her research on the forbidden books. Then talk to Anca in Crossroads Inn, solve Enolf's riddle. [Who knows what else I have in store for you?] and follow Anca.

Track down the ancient ruins hiding the Font of Life with Anca to advance the romance.

While heading to the ruins with Anca during the "Where Old Devils Lie" quest, you take a break by a lake.

Run through all the available dialogue options to show her your support and understanding, but avoid strictly friendly dialogue options.

Pick [I care about you.]

Once you reach the ruins, choose [Nice to see you smile] and [I’m enjoying your company, too.]

Once inside the ruins during the "Where Old Devils Lie" quest, examine all the paintings. In the final room, grab the dyes from the altar and let Anca paint magic runes on your body. Heading into the next room starts the final quest in this chain, "Stronger Than Achilles."

"Stronger Than Achilles" is the final quest in Anca's Questline and the climax of her romance arc. What you say here actually matters. Just play through the standard objectives. As you explore the Font of Life area, you will hit a few major moments for the relationship.

During the Idol Trial:

• Pick [Alright... Wish me luck.] and take the test yourself.
• When the "Time to Decide" prompt pops up, choose [keep still].
• After the trial, pick [Better me than you.] followed by [You can't give such power to just anyone.]

At the ruined bridge over the chasm:

• Choose [Anca? What's wrong?] then [All? What do you mean?]
• Pick [You were hoping to use the Font yourself.] Do not criticize her. Try to keep the conversation going.
• Continue with [I would, too, in your place.] and [Why didn't you tell me all this before?]
• Choose [I'd do anything for you.] and [I love you.] Both of these choices carry a lot of weight.

After solving the bridge puzzle:

• Pick [One way to find out.]

At the blood chalice (Font of Life):

• Choose [That'd explain a lot.]
• Pick [If it's alright with you, I'll use it.] You cannot let Anca use the Font.
• Wrap up with [Thank you, Anca.]

Finally, picking [Let's go back to the inn.] teleports you directly back to the Crossroads Inn for the romance finale.

Get Font of Life Perk and finalize the romance with Anca.

You return to the Crossroads Inn to wrap up the romance with Anca.

Choose [There's a conversation we need to finish.] and [I meant what I said.]

Pick [Screw decency. I want you, too.] and [Not sure I got that. One more time?] to trigger the final romance scene. If you want to back out of the relationship instead, choose [I guess you're right ... Let's be friends, then.]

Afterwards, talk to Anca and try to comfort her.

Once you wrap up her romance arc, Anca stays at the Crossroads Inn. You can still talk to her, and she now serves as a Vendor.
