Where Old Devils Lie Walkthrough
"Where Old Devils Lie" is a next lengthy quest in the Anca storyline. It plays a big part in her romance arc and brings you one step closer to earning the "Font of Life" reward. The mission starts automatically right after you finish "Between the Words." You just need to wait one full in-game day for Anca to finish her research on the forbidden books.
"Stronger Than Achilles" is the next and final mission in her storyline. You will tackle it immediately after wrapping up "Where Old Devils Lie," so it is a good idea to start this entire sequence first thing in the morning.
Since this entire questline is tied to her romance, make sure you talk to Anca as much as possible and keep your tone supportive alongside your main objectives. It is actually hard to mess things up during this specific quest, but finishing it remains a necessary step to advance the relationship.
Crossroads Inn
- After finishing "Between the Words," wait a full in-game day for Anca to complete her research on the forbidden books.
- Talk to Anca in Crossroads Inn.
- Solve Enolf's riddle.
On the way to the ruins
- Follow Anca.
- Take out the wolves.
- Have a romantic conversation with Anca by the lake.
- Follow the streams upriver until you spot the ruins with the obelisk.
- Head through the cave into the valley.
- Defeat the Undead Dogs.
- Discover the Struga Twin Falls Shrine.
- Enter the ruins through the side entrance.
Inside the ruins
- Check the main hall and the two side rooms. Clear out the enemies.
- [Inspect] all the wall paintings and highlighted objects.
- Head deeper underground. In the room with two statues, eliminate the enemies and examine the paintings.
- The final room appears to be a dead end. Look for dyes on the altar next to the fire.
- Let Anca paint magic runes on your body.
- This opens the door to the next section of the underground.
- This concludes the "Where Old Devils Lie" quest and instantly triggers "Stronger Than Achilles" quest, continuing the Anca storyline.
