About Wojtek Antonowicz
If you are wondering who actually draws the maps, writes the guides, and puts together the walkthroughs on game-maps.com, you came to the right place.
Hello everyone. My name is Wojtek Antonowicz (formally Wojciech) and I am the founder, creator, content writer, and the guy running game-maps.com.
I started this site because playing video games and making map guides for them has always brought me a lot of joy. The fact that other players actually find my work useful gives me a real sense of satisfaction. I get to have a great time playing and exploring these game worlds, and you get something useful out of it. That’s my idea of a good time. After all, you shouldn't go on any quest without a decent map.
What is game-maps.com?
Game-Maps.com is a site built for gamers. It is divided into game-specific hubs featuring fully uncovered and annotated maps, walkthroughs, zone guides, world maps, and solutions to puzzles and secrets. The whole point of the site is to help players out, make it easier to get past the hard parts, find hidden locations, or just walk you step by step through the story.
The entire site is completely free and available to everyone. All the materials, texts, maps, and opinions are original and created by me. Nobody pays me to say things, and I do not publish sponsored content. I choose which games to map out entirely on my own.
The walkthroughs include screenshots I take myself during my gameplay, along with video guides. You can find the full collection of those on: Game Maps on YouTube.
Some of the extra info and comments on the site actually come from readers who send in their own corrections and notes. I highly encourage this, and I am super grateful for the help. Obviously, the maps and guides look a bit different depending on the game's objective, story, and difficulty.
My Background
This all started a long, long time ago during the era of early PC RPGs like Ultima, Wizardry, Might and Magic, The Bard's Tale, and AD&D games. Back when I was a teenager, I used to draw out dungeon mazes on graph paper.
The fact that both of my parents were land surveyors probably had something to do with it. Having maps scattered all over the house definitely sparked my imagination. Later came MMORPGs with their massive worlds, which I’m a huge fan of.
For over 30 years of my professional life, right from the early days of the internet, I created and co-created gaming websites and print publications focused on game maps and guides. It’s hard for me to believe, but I did the math once and realized I’ve made over 3,000 published game maps in various forms since 1996.
Most of those old treasures disappeared into the darkness of forgotten memory. The few things left to look back on are in my nostalgic maps section Old Game Maps.
Since my actual day job also involved building web platforms for major global clients, I launched game-maps.com in 2010 mostly for my own needs. It was just a private place to test out different web coding solutions for game guides. Over time I liked it so much that I started adding new content and maps just for fun.
The result was a pretty chaotic site with a dozen different layouts and guides sitting in various stages of completion. That was all the time I had back then, since my regular job was eating up my schedule. Regardless, your response was incredibly positive. In a world completely flooded with internet walkthroughs, players actually trusted my maps. Thank you for that. Helping you guys have a good time is very important to me.
And that is how the site you see today came to be.

What’s Next?
After many years of corporate and non-corporate grinding, I finally fulfilled all my obligations and contracts. My kids are grown up, my wife and I are doing great, and I’m completely debt-free.
I finally have the time to dedicate to what I actually love doing. The year 2026 is the start of my project to bring game-maps.com to a more professional, useful level for players. More accurate maps, highly detailed content, frequent updates, and fulfilling requests from readers. I’m really looking forward to it. I'm just eager to get to work.
How I Play Games for the Site?
Playing games to create maps and guides looks a bit different than playing just for pleasure.
First, I play through a given area or story section like a normal player, mostly to get my bearings and see the consequences of my actions in the environment. I take notes on all the important locations, NPCs, dialogue options, potential roadblocks, secrets, and puzzles.
Then I play through that exact same area again, but this time in extreme detail. I test every possible action, finish the quests, check every corner, and solve the puzzles. If the game has branching paths, I reload saves and check different dialogue options, choices, and quest outcomes.
The next run through that section is just for writing down all the info I need for the walkthrough, taking screenshots, and recording video of the major moments. Then, once I finally uncover the full in-game map for that area, I gather the visuals for the final map.
Obviously, I have to do all of this myself if I want to be absolutely sure I’m not publishing false info. Unfortunately, it takes a ton of time. If a guide and a map are actually going to be worth anything, I have to check everything thoroughly. In massive games, you sometimes have to return to the same location over and over again.
A lot depends on the game itself. Sometimes this whole process is extremely time-consuming and maps get delayed. Quality just takes time.
How the Maps and Guides Are Made?
Once I have all the necessary data, I take my in-game screenshots and draw an outline of the terrain. I use editing software to mark the collectibles and items you discover during gameplay. This way, before you even start playing, you can immediately see what’s hiding in that location.
After that, I place numbered points on the map in a logical order for exploration. Those numbers match the written guide right below the map in the location description. Along with the name, you get a description of the spot, what you can do there, who you’ll meet, and why it matters for the story. Inside the walkthroughs, I add my own screenshots and video clips to the harder parts just to help you visualize it. If readers report errors or the game changes over time, I try my best to update the existing maps.
Sometimes a location changes so much during the plot that I actually have to create multiple map layers for it.
Interactive Maps
The most common question you guys ask is, "Why are there no interactive maps?" I know how to make interactive maps. I actually made them for years. I just choose not to on game-maps.com because static illustrations are way more comfortable for readers, especially on mobile devices.
My rule is that a few clean, readable map images that guide you naturally through the story beat a massive interactive map packed with hundreds of useless pins you’ll never even see after 100 hours of playing. But nothing is set in stone. I might go back to interactive maps if there’s a real need for it down the line.
Support the Site
The internet is becoming a harder place for independent sites like mine. I do not publish AI-generated clickbait. I am a small, solo creator with zero backing from massive corporations. Advertising rates are dropping year after year. Reaching readers gets harder by the day because search engines are flooded with AI summaries and garbage content. Trying to survive next to all that automated garbage is getting really hard.
So, if you think what I do is helpful, please consider supporting the site so it can survive. I'll do my best to map out the next game you decide to play.
Your support, even just a symbolic amount, means a lot to me. Aside from paying the server bills to keep the site running, it shows me that real players appreciate this work, and that really keeps me going. Thank you to all my past and future supporters.
