Kay's Companion.

Nix is a merqaal who has been Kay Vess' best friend and loyal partner in crime since she was a kid. Nix's background and home planet are unknown, but he is immensely loyal to Kay and will never leave her side. Together, Kay and Nix have made Canto Bight their prowling grounds, and Nix's innate abilities of climbing, jumping and sensing danger has been a perfect complement to Kay.
