Shadows in the Woods Walkthrough
The Shadows in the Woods Quest is the next story mission you receive after speaking with Mert during The Firebrand Quest in Briar Sloughs.
This quest runs on a strict timer. You cannot wait too long to reach the bridge near Stoneward Post, as you have exactly two days. Most importantly, you cannot delay rescuing Sara once you locate her. If you fail to act quickly, she will die and this entire storyline will close. Failing this does not permanently cut you off from the Rebels, but it pushes your introduction to them much further back in the story.
The task itself is straightforward and can be completed without any combat. Tackling it during the daytime is highly recommended.
- Head to the bridge near Stoneward Post in Briar Sloughs to reveal the meeting spot.
- Reach the rendezvous point pointed on map. You will spot Sara being interrogated by soldiers. You do not need to fight them. Handle the situation peacefully by bribing the guards.
- Select the dialogue option: [That girl is my sister.]
- Select the dialogue option: [Not sure. Maybe these coins hold an answer? (100)] (This costs 100 coins).
- The bribe works perfectly. Speak with Sara and convince her of your good intentions.
- Follow Sara to the Temporary Rebel Camp in the Boar's Back Region to meet the rebel leader.
- The meeting with Crake and Drogos does not go as planned. Crake does not trust you at all.
- List out all your past achievements to try and convince Crake that you are on their side.
- You will fail to sway him, but you will at least keep your life. Crake and Drogos leave you tied to a tree.
- This marks the end of the Shadows in the Woods Quest.
- Once you break free, head back to Briar Sloughs to finish your activities there.
The direct result of this quest is a new challenge called "Where Loyalty Lies" quest. To prove whose side you are on, you need to raise your notoriety to Notorious or higher. This serves as your next major task in the Rebel questline.
Quest Lore & Objectives
According to Mert, a girl named Sara is the contact for the manumits. However, she may have already been captured by soldiers at the rendezvous point in the nearby woods.
Go to the bridge near Stoneward Post Reach the rendezvous point Rescue Sara Follow Sara I spoke with Crake, though the meeting went rather differently than I had imagined. I must earn his trust if the manumits are to aid me against Brencis.
