The map shows the Excavation Site Gaol, a mining camp located in the south of the world of Dragon's Dogma 2 on Agamen Volcanic Island. This location appears in the game's Prologue and is intended as an introduction to the game, so you won't be able to explore the entire location in detail this time. You will be able to come back here again in the further storyline of Dragon's Dogma 2.

Excavation Site Prologue Walkthrough for Dragon's Dogma 2

You have a dream, a beautiful dream...

You are at a party given in your honor at Vernworth Castle, all the guests admire and thank you, you sit on the throne of the Kingdom of Vermund...

But it's just your dream Arisen, you're in Excavation Site Gaol on Agamen Volcanic Island and you're just waking up in your cell. This is how the story in Dragon's Dogma 2 begins.

Starting Location - Prison Cell

Prison overseer Fiska arrives.

This stage is Character Creation. You can choose from prepared presets (prisoners) or choose a hooded prosioner to customize your character's apperance.

Gaoled Awakening Main Quest

Starting Location: Prison Cell in Excavation Site Gaol.

Quest Giver: Fiska.

You awaken from a pleasant dream of plaudits and revelry to find yourself in a gaol cell, with no memory of how you came to be there.

Follow Fiska, along the way you will meet many other prisoners and guards, but you won't learn anything interesting from them.

Excavation Site - The Hole

You meet Rook talk to him, he will guide you further.

But first, enter the House (03) and search the room.

Go back and follow Rook.

Fiska

Talk to Fiska he want you to pick up a boulder (05).

Pick one and carry it to Rook in (06).

Rook

Rook is pleased that you have mastered the difficult task of dealing with the stone and wants to introduce you to the next stage of learning your new profession, which will occupy you for the rest of your life. But your studies are interrupted by an explosion in another part of the mine. Go to (07).

Follow Rook and find out source of the commotion.

Investigate the Disturbance

You see Medusa attacking miners and mine guards. You want to join the fight, various weapons fall out of the broken chest, pick up the weapon, it will be the starting weapon for your Vocation and attack Medusa.

Starting Weapon, this is your first weapon. You will pick up the weapon that is assigned to your character's Vocation..

This is your first fight, the opponent is especially weakened, so calmly try how to fight in your Vocation.

After the fight, you will see a vision of the Mysterious Stranger, probably visible only to you, he will call you Arisen and try to convince you to run away.

Don't wait, don't look around, just run quickly [Dash] following Rook towards the cliff (08).

Cliff and Griffin Wing

Jump off the cliff. You will land safely on Griffon's Wing. This way you will fly far north to the Ultramarine Waterfall location located nearby Borderwatch Outpost in Vermund.

Staying at an inn fully restores your party's Health and Stamina. It also recovers the loss gauge, which represents a reduction in your Health and accumulates when taking damage.

At Inns you have access to your personal Storage, same Storage can be accessed in any Inn. All stored items will be kept fresh as long as they are in Storage.

The Inn also serves as a Vocation Guild in smaller towns, to manage your Vocations (Character Class).

When resting at an inn, you can choose whether to rise in the morning or at night-useful if you need to set out at a particular time. Foresighted adventurers will stay at inns regularly, to avoid risks when traveling far afield.

A place out of towns, to rest for your Party. If you have a Camping Kit you can regenerate here like in a regular Inn. Before you start resting, eliminate all enemies in the area to avoid being attacked while you sleep

Small Dungeons, usually underground, with items and valuables guarded by monsters.

There is often more than one entrance to a Dungeon.

Portcrystals - Dragon's Dogma 2

Fast Travel Teleporters in Dragon’s Dogma 2, use Ferrystone to teleport to any other previously discovered Portcrystal.

Fast Travel is not popular in Dragon's Dogma 2, which is why you will only find a few Portcrystals.

"A Trial of Archery" Side Quest in Sacred Arbor you will be able to get your own Portcrystal as an item. You can also buy it later in-game.

Riftstones - Dragon's Dogma 2

Riftstones (Regular Riftstones)

Riftstones available in Towns and important locations. Their function is to summon Support Pawns. You summon Pawns at an experience level similar to your own. Different Riftstones have the ability to select Pawns with specific properties.

You can try to rebuild the Forgotten Riftstone and if you succeed, a new Regular Riftstone will be created.

Forgotten Riftstones - Dragon's Dogma 2

Forgotten Riftstones (Free Pawn)

Destroyed Riftstones scattered around the land that you can rebuild. When you try to rebuild Forgotten Riftstone, two things can happen (they are not random, but assigned to a specific place):

  • Riftstone will be restored - then it will turn into a Regular Riftstone with a specific feature assigned to the summoned Pawns in it.
  • It will be permanently destroyed - and one time will summon a random high-level Pawn that you can recruit for free. And this is exactly this type of Riftstone.

There are 16 Main Quests in Dragon's Dogma 2 and it's hard to miss another one as the end of one begins the next. By following the numbering order of Main Quests, you can see where the game's plot will take you next. Completing the storyline, i.e. completing all Main Quests, will take you about 30 hours.
