Lava Flows is a peninsula located in the northern half of the Rivain Coast. You come to Lava Flows in Chapter 8 to complete the "Fire on the Sands" Taash Companion Quest, which you receive in The Lighthouse.
"Fire on the Sands" is a short and simple Quest that involves talking to Taash and her family, with the bonus of being able to discover the Evanuris Altar located in this area.

Taash is taking some time on the beach to blow off steam, figuratively and literally. This quiet moment offers a chance to get to know her better.
Taash plans to head back to Rivain between quests and would welcome company.
